add shows to ical

Added a nifty little feature today that is proving quite useful already: On each show page you’ll now see an “add to ical” link which when clicked will add the show to any calendar program you’re running that supports the ical format:

Now you can quickly add a show that looks interesting to your calendar.

secret beta feature

So this weekend on the whim of a request, I implemented the ability to create a “badge” a la twitter badges so a band can list their shows on their site, blog, or anywhere else and style to their heart’s content.
Example via thrice since I’m seeing them tmw :)

Upcoming Shows

slack

I’ve been slacking and neglecting thesqueakerbox. It seems for a while emails were not getting sent. Since that’s pretty much the main function of the site, that blows.
In my defense, I’ve been going to a lot of shows, so that’s good at least.
To get back into it, I’ve corrected the email issue, and added a [...]

big plans.

Haven’t worked on the squeakerbox. much this week, but did push out some caching updates which should make the site faster overall.
Also have been doing some thinking about future plans for thesqueakerbox., and here’s what’s next:
Better band list: this is much needed. I’m thinking about making it three “tabs” with a listing of just your [...]

show thesqueakerbox some love.

thesqueakerbox needs your help spreading the word of local music, oh and how to find it on the squeakerbox too. (hey, we gotta downplay the shameless call for promotion some how).
here’s what you could do (in order of effort).
1. become a fan on facebook (post it on your profile if you’re really bold).
2. follow @thesqueakerbox [...]

you’re talking, we’re listening.

This week on thesqueakerbox we added a few features that you asked for:
You asked for an alphabetical sort of ‘my bands’, which made a lot of sense, and was really just an oversight. Anyway, it’s there now.
The other main feature was a link to each band’s website on their page, so as you’re browsing bands, [...]

the story of thesqueakerbox.

I love music and I love going to shows. I also hate paying ticketmaster fees, but it’s much easier to find a ticketmaster show than it is to hear about a show at the bar down the street, and this frustrated me.
The idea of thesqueakerbox started forming when I thought, what if there was a [...]
